Did you know that the Library of Congress has a Flickr photo stream?  They’ve been collecting photos since the early 1800’s and are putting these collections up on Flickr bit by bit.  I have to give credit to my hubby for this find.

This is a great little project by Michael Hughes, documented and posted on Flickr. Totally worth wasting 15 minutes of your Friday to look through these.

I find the “Iraqi Casualty Series” by Francesca Pastine very compelling. She has blocked out with graphite all but bodies of the dead on pages of various copies of the New York Times – the final result is quite haunting

So one of my new favourite street-style blogs is The Vagabond Looks out of Japan.  Of course, street-style in Japan is amazing.  Today  I was inspired by this combination… call me crazy. Her tights look like they have cave paintings on them!

Here’s another artist I found on Etsy who also has work up on Flickr.  His old found-photo drawings are especially interesting, and are what drew me to look at his work.

Why is there something so appealing about meticulous arrangements of objects?  I really like this portfolio (which I found via here).

As a related aside, I recently found this flickr set, entirely devoted to photos of peoples collections. Collections bordering on obsessive-compulsive.

Today is the day of photography!  I found Violet Julia’s Etsy shop first, which led me to her Flickr portfolio.  Some lovely photos, many of which are polaroids or Holga photos.  Very serene nature photography. Some prints available in her Etsy shop.

Zoe Strauss- you must look at her portfolio.  Very simple photos that capture a sort of “American essence” (and not necessarily the pretty side).

These collages are fantastic. This is a great portfolio.
