Malbuchgeschichten: Illustrated by Heinz Kiessling

I really want this book.  The title roughly translates to “Colouring Book Stories”.  It is about learning how to draw and has the most magnificent illustrations.

See this flickr set for more images.

Héléne Poirié: Images en Gommettes

This is a fantastic vintage sticker activity book I found on Flickr, scanned by Maptitefabrique.  There are so many other great books in the set “Livres d’enfants avant 1950” (Children’s books before 1950).  Here are many more vintage children’s books spanning different eras.  Be sure to check out this book & this book.

On the Moon again: 1972

I love this photo- Earth looks so small and insignificant in the background.  More Apollo 17 photos up on the George Eastman House Flickr stream.

Hans Christian Anderson Original Papercut 1870

“Original papercut design, intricately cut and depicting several popular motifs including ballet dancers, windmill men with heart-shaped windows, pierrots, Ole Lukoie or sandmen, flower garlands, palm trees, storks, and gnomes [..and dated] 1870.”  Recently sold at a Christie’s auction for $24,000.

Lady Constance Stewart Richardson

Love this photo.  Apparently she is the author of this book.  I love the Library of Congress Flickr stream.  Some real gems in there.

Y. Morytah update

You may remember me posting this a while back.  Well, it’s been a while since I’ve seen new work up on his flickr set, but Y. Morytah just put up this mind-blowing image and I love it.

Machine Project: Christy McCaffrey and Sara Newey

Machine Project is a small, local not-for-profit gallery in Los Angeles…  my husband used to do design for them from time to time, and we still keep up on their goings on.  This most recent installation is pretty awesome.  Christy McCaffrey and Sara Newey turned the Machine Project space into a mini forest.  Can’t wait to check it out…

They turned this:

Check out the Machine Project flickr set for more photos…  (btw, how lame is it that when I look at this, aside from thinking “Awesome!” my second thought is, “Have fun cleaning it up!”).
