Steven Eichhorn

Although I’m quite sure that Mr. Eichhorn’s work has been posted elsewhere before, it is new to me! I found his work via a series of Flickr searches, which then led me to his site. Such great collages.

Flickr find: Superbomba

Um… I’m in love with Superbomba. She posts the best vintage photos. I genuinely don’t think there’s a bad photo in her photostream. Just varying degrees of good. I proudly admit to wasting lots of time looking at every single page of her photostream. Here’s a taste (and trust me, it’s hard to narrow down)…

Sweet Outfit

I really love this outfit on designer Stine Goya from a photo taken at Copenhagen Fashion Week by Copenhagen Street Style.  I love the top in particular, which is her design.

Square America: vintage photos

I am completely enamoured of this blog. Collecting old ‘found’ photos, these fellows arrange groupings of photos in a particular theme and post them. If there’s interesting text on the back, they post that as well. Here are a few that I especially love from the “Beauty (and it’s Discontents)” collection. Check out their site for the full collection, and for others.

Lady lavender

I think this girl and her outfit are pretty much perfect (as captured during Berlin Fashion Week by Ivan over at FaceHunter)…

Flickr find: George Eastman House

The George Eastman House (as in Kodak Eastman company), now a museum, has joined the Library of Congress in creating a Flickr account and posting old photos from their archives for the public to see, tag, and comment on. I feel that more historical societies should do this. Not only does it engage a new audience who may never have thought to visit places such as these, but it provides a much needed link to the past for old and young.  It is such an inexpensive way of curating and/or documenting historical photographs which probably have not been exhibited before, due to the sheer volume of the collections. The autochrome set on the Eastman photostream is particularly lovely. Here are a few that I love.

Hank Willis Thomas

An interesting project- Hank Willis Thomas took ads from years past targeting black audiences, featuring black subjects, removed the branding,  revealing the images as they are- showing what they are actually selling.

William Hundley

There’s something very dynamic about William Hundley’s photography.

Dream dress!

So as you know, I read the Sartorialist.  Rarely do I feel jealous of someone’s look, but this lady…!  Well, suffice it to say I would love to find a dress like that!   This is my dream dress.  Not sure if I’d rock those shoes, but she pulls it off.
