These are a couple of photos I took forever ago with a Polaroid Land Camera and some vintage film on an outing to Descanso Gardens. These photos got so thrashed from being up on my fridge for a few years (she said shamefully), but I still really like them. I ended up parting with the camera because it was too expensive to put film in plus, the damn thing was impossible to focus and adjust. But I did get a few interesting photos out of it.

I’ve posted some of Square America’s stereo photographs before, but they just put up some more amateur shots from around the Salt Lake City area circa 1940. More can be seen on their blog.

Nice images from Anatoly Zenkov’s photostream.

I’m obsessed with mosses. I took so many photos of moss while in Europe because I’m incredibly jealous of all the varieties of moss that seem to grow everywhere but in Los Angeles

(PS. Photo #1 was taken by my husband)

No matter how you feel about reptiles, you can’t deny the beauty of these photos by Guido Mocafico of our serpentine friends. The colours and patterns are phenomenal.

This was too hilarious not to re-post. Fake info-graphics are so fun sometimes. I love Scott Schuman as much as the next jealous hipster, but this is so spot-on. Kudos to Refinery 29 for this awesomeness.

I absolutely LOVE this series of photos. They are very tranquil and subtle, yet quite moving. They remind me of some gorgeous old hand-coloured postcards I have of caves in Colorado.
*I should caution you that many images on his site are definitely not safe for work*

This is by far the best work I’ve seen in a while. Absolutely inspiring work from this husband and wife pair. The photos are mostly of projects from the 70’s and 80’s, and I can think of a handful of artists making work right now that strives to look just like this, but not nearly as successfully executed.

I wish I could post every single photo because these projects are just so amazing. Look here for more.

I am obsessed with these photos– especially that animated one on top. Slime molds! These über-decomposers are so beautiful. I am so fascinated by botany.

You may remember that I have a girl crush on Miranda July (also Amy Sedaris, and a few others). Anyway, Kate posted a piece about this photo series that July made for Vice where she poses as extras from various movies. Not like bit characters, but straight-up extras. Love these.
