Yesterday was my last day! This photo is of the wall beside my desk which I sadly had to tear down. It’s comprised of various findings, gifts, and invitations that came in the mail during the course of 3.5 years at my job in the women’s buying office. Now I hope to devote myself to blogging and working on new projects, which will be exciting.

Seth and his buddy Steven Serrato made the amazing cover art for the recent Flying Lotus album “Reset”. Warp Records also took the art and made this amazing video game with it.

Pre-fashion week, we always receive a bunch of invitations to shows, events, etc. I pulled aside some of the better looking ones. We received a few laser-cut ones like these:

I thought the prints from this collection, as well as the legwear, etc. were pretty bizarre and not flattering.

I’ve been noticing that fringe is coming back around, after a conspicuous absence. First it’s started with the trend of twentysomethings wearing scarves with fringe, such as keffiyehs (anti-war scarves), and so on. There are several I found just on the Urban Outfitters website, such as this:

I’ve noticed it too, during this fashion week. The fringe has moved from scarves to dresses and tops, and designers are taking creative liberties with its many possibilities. For example this top was seen in the Vena Cava show:

These dresses, which I actually really like, were seen in the 3.1 Phillip Lim show:

I wonder if this trend will catch on with more than just the fashion forward?

I can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of Heatherette or any line that is too “jokey”.

Also, Gareth Pugh is getting a lot of hype, but I just don’t see the appeal aside from the “I can’t understand this, so therefore it must be genius” mentality. Yes, these are mice- mice made of mink!

I have been working in the glorious world of fashion for the past 3.5 years, in the women’s buying office of a major store in Los Angeles, and while I do work with some amazing folks, I am looking forward to the day when I will be quitting to pursue my own ventures! I feel the need to challenge myself creatively and otherwise. So, in a few months I will be quitting my job, and living in Hawaii for a month or so with my husband Seth, who is doing graphic design for Vans (for the Triple Crown of Surfing competition). After, and maybe even during that time I hope to begin making this blog an interesting culmination of all my interests, and hope to include features like: design (all types, but focusing on fashion, graphic, and interior), vintage finds, typography, food, favourites, etc. I’m going to try to avoid the blogger’s trap of reposting other people’s content, but I’m sure that it is bound to happen at some point.

My husband is the first artist I’d like to feature. Seth is an extremely talented graphic designer also known as Boli, or typenerd. You can see some of his work on his site. The fine Art Center education he paid oh so very much money for (!) gave him exquisite typography skills, and a keen eye for colour and composition.
