The f-f-f-future

How rad are these.  This Swiss Code-X boat (which is currently available to order):

…which reminds me of this photo of the 80’s Citroën Karin concept car.

Etsy pick: Paper creatures

Lots of these little creations in the Essimar shop.  I think they’d be great in little frames for a child’s room.

Ethel Smith on organ- 1944

Thanks to Chase who sent a link to this video this morning. How can you watch this and not be in a good mood?

Etsy vintage pick: German paper silhouettes

I love these… too bad they’re reserved for someone else.  You are supposed to carefully trim them apart, but I rather like them all chaotic like this.

Kinder Happy Hippo Biscuit

Yes, I know he’s really too cute to eat.  But so delicious!  If you are a European ex-pat in Los Angeles, and miss your Kinder candies, you really must pay a visit to Mel & Rose on Melrose Ave. past Crescent Heights near Melrose Place.  They are stocked with great wines, sodas, rare candies, and other snacks.  I became obsessed with adorable Kinder cookies and candies when I worked so close to this shop- they make great deli sandwiches too and I used to go here for lunch quite often.

Ascot Opening Race

One of my favourite scenes from a musical. Love the costumes by Cecil Beaton, the choreography, everything. I think I can say without a doubt that My Fair Lady is one movie that I know by heart.

Newfound love for Keds

I would just like to say that Keds has always been (in my mind) the dorkiest brand ever.  My grandma wears Keds- ’nuff said.

However, lately they’ve been collaborating with some impressive designers to make some stylish shoes (especially for men). The first two images are the only Keds shoe for women that I’ve been really impressed by.  The rest are for men (but could be worn by women too!)  Unfortunately some of them only seem to be available in Japan or in online Japanese shops… what’s up with that?!

New Looks from Sandra Backlund

I feature Backlund’s avant-garde knits from time to time because I find them fascinating.  Hint Magazine referred to this collection as “Rorschach-like”, which seems apropos.
