My husband’s brother-in-law is a pilot and he offered us stand-by tickets to come visit them in Boulder, Colorado. How could we say no? I’m a little worried because my cat of about 5 years, Milo, didn’t show up at all today (he normally doesn’t miss a meal, and just hangs out in the backyard). I hate feeling like something’s amiss when I’m about to take a trip, don’t you?
Anyway, just wanted to let you know posting will be a little spotty for next week or so.
Ever since I watched the Paper Rad “Trash Talkin’” movie almost a year ago, I’ve had this dorky yet rad version of “Jive Talkin’” stuck in my head. Now it can be stuck in your head too. You should totally watch that movie, by the way, unless you’re susceptible to seizures. A visit to their site will give you a clue as to why I make that disclaimer. There is an even more amazing video that goes along with the classic “Don’t Worry Be Happy” song, but there’s not a good copy of it on ye olde YouTube.
Various images I’ve collected from Etsy and around the internet for my own inspiration. Usually I link out from photos, but these are things I’ve just found around Etsy and haven’t kept track of. Mostly vintage items- quilt patterns, crochet patterns, cool things and just funny things. I hope you find them inspiring as well!
Ok. I know that I post a lot of stuff from Urban Outfitters right here on this very blog. But you also know that I love to hate them. Today is no exception. I am looking at their site, at the apartment section, and seeing reproductions of ceramics that my friends and I have, and thinking… you know what this is ridiculous. Some of the vintage items they knock off are infuriating because if you spent like 10 more minutes looking on Etsy or Ebay, you could find a comparable or better deal on something that is actually vintage, and therefore something that will be more likely to retain its value. As much as I am loathe to have more hipsters crowding out the thrift stores I go to, or snatching up cool vintage things on Etsy, I do want to prevent more crap from ending up in our landfills and I want to encourage people not to be so lazy. Perhaps people are under the impression that vintage is more expensive, but you will see that simply isn’t true.
I am considering making this an ongoing section where I compare a selection of things that are currently available on Etsy to things that are currently available at Urban Outfitters. In the “apartment” section in particular. Please let me know what you think!
Love these three unisex styles from Oliver Peoples. The first style is a nice collaboration with actress Zooey Deschanel, but my personal favourite is the second style which was inspired by Andy Warhol. I am seeing so many great examples of these modern sunglasses with the (hopefully) timeless beauty of vintage sunglasses.
