If you aren’t already familiar with Jacob Magraw’s work, it’s quite lovely. Once again, he’s someone I met at A.P.E. two years ago, and who actually went to school with my husband and some friends of ours. We have a zine he made, as well as some letterpress cards (2 of his painstakingly hand-painted business cards are hanging on our bathroom wall)! Lately he seems to have had a lot of success scoring not only a McSweeney’s cover, but the cover of the most recent Chuck Palahniuk book. Congratulations Jacob!
Well, I didn’t get anything on my list for Christmas, but I did get a nice zine from my husband. It’s by Scott at the Birdstand, purchased at Little Otsu. We were first introduced to the Birdstand when we met Scott and his wife (?) at A.P.E. two years ago and bought some of their work there… nice folks. His new work looks great.
Here are some things on my list this year:
Wirename necklace in this style:
J.Crew City Suede flats in yellow:

Mina Perhonen Volume 2: Embroidery book
Pretty much anything from Hannah Waldron:
I like the woodgrain silhouettes and drawings from Etsy seller Pen And Paper (watermarks don’t appear on actual product).
Domestic teamed up with select designers to create some limited edition plates. I especially love the ones from Dylan Martorell. I’ve been a fan of his work since my husband discovered a zine of his on Nieves and we found our way to his site.
“The Matching Game” at Rare Device… a well-designed, silkscreened version of the classic “Memory” game we’ve all played at one time or another.
So yes, it’s hard to acknowledge it (especially while I’m still in Hawaii in 82 degree weather), but Christmas is upon us. I came across this garland by Etsy seller afavorite, and thought it was a nice idea. Especially if you’re not too keen on traditional Christmas decorations.
PS. She also has some nice silkscreened and letterpress gift tags and cards….
