Just a little note to say that I have put even more jewelry up in the shop. By the way, if you ever can’t remember what my Etsy shop is called, I now have a badge on The Looksee homepage that will take you straight there. I am trying to hustle on making jewelry, since I start a new job next week (woohoo!). Here are some sneak previews.
I hand-painted these vintage pendants which were plain brass to begin with:

And made them into these:

And also put up some vintage Bakelite stickpins and a few other things:

Today is so hot and the air is full of smoke and ash. Yes, it is the time of year where Los Angeles burns partially to the ground. Then next year it will burn somewhere new. It’s just the way it goes. Anyway, I’m not exactly feeling refreshed if you know what I mean. Just for you who don’t live nearby, here’s what the smoke cloud looks like from downtown and I live between downtown and where the fires are, so yes… it’s smoky as hell.
That may seem like a tangent, but that was all to say that looking at Sam Falls portfolio was a breath of metaphorically fresh air. Love his entire collection of photos. I looked at every single image up on his site.

Absolutely inspired by this site that Genevieve posted the other day, featuring some vintage Japanese and Indian textiles, garments, and more.

These lovely photos were taken in Russian sewage tunnels. The colours, like the structures themselves, are caused by the build up of various types of minerals over time. Unfortunately I’m not sure who actually took the photos, but look here to see more.

I find myself lately inexplicably drawn to knotted accessories. You may have noticed me posting them here and there. I must not (knot?) be the only one loving them right now because they’re everywhere! Here are a few recent ones I’ve found to drool over.

1. Aguiniga 2. Samma 3. Michelle Lane 4. Dee Double You 5. Color Blind Smarties

My husband was sweet enough to make this rad (and hilarious) collage for the invitation my upcoming 30th birthday party. Yes, the big 3-0. Now you know. I thought it’d be fun to dress up and have a cocktail party (still working out the details). So “fancy” is the loose theme, however people choose to interpret that…

Updated my Etsy shop! I am putting up new jewelry. I just re-listed my triangle grid necklaces, as I sold out of the first three, thanks to you all. I am also putting up some very deco-looking necklaces that I made from unique vintage Czech glass beads combined with new chain and findings. Will be listing some other new thing in the coming week… will keep you posted!

I love this most recent collection from Pencey, a fairly new line out of New York. So perfect for summer.

I found yards of this vintage trim at an antique store a few years ago for something like $5, and bought it with the intent of making tie-backs for my linen curtains. It has such a wonderful woven pattern… deer, birds, dogs, trees, and a countryman with a horse!

Now I’m thinking that it would be better used as a trim to spice up the bottom of these curtains (it’s the same height as that bottom hem, and pretty close to the same colour of beige).

I’d love to hear what you think!
