Birkenstock version 3.1
3.1 Phillip Lim, that is! Did anyone else know that the lovely Phillip Lim did a shoe called the “Eros” for Birkenstock? I actually like it a lot. On sale at Barneys for $70 which seems reasonable considering that those things are super ergenomic and last forever (an ergenomic designer sandal seems like it should be an oxymoron).
Coton
Ok. So just to be clear, I think I love everything on this site. Thanks to Dear Ada for the original posting which led me to spend way too much time perusing the CDC stores site. Here are two favourites:
Dries Van Noten SS09
I’ve said this many times, but Dries Van Noten can do no wrong by me. Of course there may be a few pieces here and there that I don’t care for, but for the most part, Dries hit the nail on the head every time. His clothes seem to hang so well- not too loose or too tight, with just the right amount of detail to keep it interesting.
The Invitations
One of the things I miss about working in buying was that year round, as Fashion Week approached, I would be the indirect recipient of the most beautiful and expensively produced invitations from couturiers and small fashion houses around the world. Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks were of course the times when there were no-holds-barred and we’d get the most beautiful invitations. Letterpress; silkscreen; plastic overlays; laser-cut plastic; foil- you name it. It was my job to make sure that my boss got the invitations that he would most certainly care about, but the rest were mine to ogle and dispose of, or (occasionally) hang on my inspiration wall by my desk.
I was reminded of this when reading this article on Hint by Haidee Findlay-Levin, renoun stylist.
*Jealous sigh.
